Essential Duties:

BUILDING ATTENDANT:
Maintains assigned buildings and premises in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition, including cleaning restrooms and removing trash.
Answers telephone calls and provides information to the public; assists individuals with questions or concerns, refers them to appropriate personnel, takes messages, and greets, monitors, and directs visitors as needed.
Assists with the setup and relocation of groups within the facility for meetings, classes, programs, activities, and other events.
Opens, closes, and secures assigned buildings and grounds; contacts law enforcement when necessary.
Instructs facility users on the safe and proper use of the facility, equipment, and amenities.
Moves furniture, equipment, and other medium to heavy objects as necessary.
Removes snow, ice, and debris from exterior steps, sidewalks, and walkways; spreads salt or other materials as needed.
Performs general lawn care and landscaping activities, including weeding, raking, and trimming.
Depending upon assignment, operates a computer, handles cash receipts, and/or manages a concession stand.
Works independently and with minimal supervision.
Makes emergency calls related to the facility and contacts 911 when necessary.
Communicates safety concerns, vandalism, injuries, property damage, maintenance concerns, and other incidents to the Recreation Specialist or appropriate supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
PARK ATTENDANT:
Maintains a positive, courteous, and inviting demeanor that reflects positively on Harford County Parks and Recreation and Harford County Government.
Responds to inquiries and provides information to the public regarding pavilion rentals, park facilities, amenities, rules, and procedures.
Assists members of the public with questions and concerns; refers individuals to appropriate personnel and takes messages as necessary.
Greets, monitors, and directs park visitors and facility users.
Advises park users regarding the safe and proper use of facilities, equipment, and amenities.
Reads, interprets, and enforces posted park and departmental rules and regulations.
Maintains assigned buildings, pavilions, restrooms, park offices, amenities, grounds, and other premises in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
Performs routine cleaning of pavilions, restrooms, offices, and other assigned facilities and removes trash and debris.
Performs general lawn care and landscaping activities, including weeding, raking, trimming, and other grounds maintenance.
Operates utility vehicles and small-engine equipment, including string trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and similar equipment.
May oversee volunteer groups working at assigned parks or facilities.
Opens, closes, and secures assigned buildings and grounds.
Contacts the Sheriff's Office, Emergency Services, or other appropriate emergency personnel when necessary.
Communicates safety concerns, vandalism, injuries, property damage, maintenance concerns, and other incidents to the Recreation Specialist or appropriate supervisor.
Works independently and with minimal supervision.
